1-2-3 Treat
Regulation • Connection • Confidence • Optimism

Description
A rhythmic pattern game that helps dogs find focus and calm through predictable movement and connection. It’s especially useful for dogs who worry about their environment, struggle to stay engaged, or need help regulating excitement.
How to Play
Choose a quiet space and begin on a loose lead or long line with treats ready.
Say “1-2-3” in a steady rhythm. On “3”, drop or offer a treat near your feet.
Repeat in a predictable manner, marking and rewarding your dog for staying with you.
Gradually introduce mild distractions (different surfaces, slow turns). If your dog struggles, return to the easier version.
Add gentle forward movement before saying “1-2-3”. Pause and reset if your dog disengages, then continue once they’re ready.
Why it Matters
Predictable rhythm supports emotional regulation and focus by creating safety through structure. Repetition builds optimism and confidence while strengthening the connection between you and your dog.
