Boop!
Confidence • Optimism • Connection • Regulation

Description
A gentle targeting game that teaches your dog to touch your hand with their nose. It builds confidence, optimism, and connection while helping your dog regulate arousal through calm, predictable movement.
How to Play
Present your flat hand a short distance from your dog’s nose. If they sniff or touch it, mark and reward.
Hide your hand behind your back, then present it again to keep the game dynamic and interesting.
Gradually move your hand slightly further away, rewarding every deliberate nose touch.
Mix in small variations — side to side, higher or lower — to build fluency and body confidence.
Once your dog is enjoying the game, add a cue like “boop” or “nose.” Present your hand, let them make contact, and reward.
Why it Matters
Boop! encourages calm engagement and confidence through predictable, playful connection. By presenting and withdrawing your hand, you maintain curiosity and turn the interaction into a conversation, not a command. The rhythm of approach and reward nurtures optimism and trust — and can even double as a novel recall cue, inviting your dog back with joy rather than pressure.
Tips for Success
Keep the pace calm but engaging — show your hand, hide it, show it again.
Avoid hovering your hand too long in one place; curiosity fades quickly.
Use a relaxed tone and smooth movements to prevent over-arousal.
Great for redirecting energy, reconnecting on walks, or practising calm recall.
