Brave Nose
Confidence • Optimism • Adaptability • Focus • Connection

Description
A confidence and curiosity game that helps your dog feel safe placing their nose or head into objects. It’s the perfect foundation for muzzle or harness training and a brilliant way to build optimism, choice, and trust through play.
How to Play
Choose an object that fits your dog’s muzzle shape — such as a cone, plant pot, yoghurt carton, mug, treat pouch, hat, or your cupped hand.
Hide the object behind your back, then calmly present it for a few seconds. When your dog looks or moves toward it, mark and reward away from the object.
Repeat — hide, present, mark, reward — gradually encouraging closer investigation and gentle nose touches.
Once your dog confidently pops their nose in, begin occasionally feeding from inside the object to strengthen comfort and curiosity (just maybe not too often from your treat pouch!).
Rotate different objects over time so your dog learns that every new shape and texture brings good things.
Why it Matters
Brave Nose teaches dogs that novelty is safe and rewarding. The rhythm of “hide and reveal” keeps curiosity alive, while feeding from the object turns it into something predictably positive. This builds lasting optimism and confidence — especially helpful for muzzle training, harness shaping, and other cooperative care foundations.
Tips for Success
Always let curiosity lead — never lure or push.
Keep sessions short and light-hearted.
Use lightweight, safe objects and soft food rewards.
Switch objects frequently to keep novelty exciting.
End while your dog is still confident and engaged.
