Catch
Confidence • Focus • Connection • Optimism

Description
A fun, light-hearted game that helps your dog build confidence, focus, and coordination. By catching food or toys, they learn to stay tuned in to you while developing body awareness and emotional control.
How to Play
Start with an easy-to-see treat or piece of food that’s simple for your dog to handle.
Gently toss the food towards them — keep it informal and fun. If they miss, don’t worry!
Reward effort as well as success. If your dog tries to catch, mark and reward that attempt.
Once they’re comfortable, start dropping food from slightly higher up to build timing and skill.
When they’re ready, mix it up — play catch with toys too for an extra burst of connection and fun.
Why it Matters
Catch develops coordination, confidence, and focus while keeping play light and engaging. It helps dogs build resilience by turning small “misses” into learning moments and strengthens the bond between you through shared play and joy.
Tips for Success
Use soft, safe treats or lightweight toys.
Keep throws gentle and low to avoid strain.
For elderly dogs or those with mobility issues: play seated or lying down, tossing food gently towards them rather than above. Allow them to “catch” from close range or pick it up calmly from the floor. The goal is connection, not speed or height.
Reward effort, not perfection.
End before your dog loses focus or energy.
